Day 243 - tiny vintage gold ring
I think my nan gave this to me when I turned 18, but it's so tiny I didn't really wear it much as I was scared it would come off and I'd lose it. Which is a shame as its a very pretty and delicate ring.
Day 240 - Vintage Jade ring
I got this in a really cool vintage shop in Angel, Islington. In fact I think I self-gifted it for my 27th Birthday! You can't beat a bit of self gifting on your birthday (which now I've written it down sounds worse than it did in my head, ooh-er!)
Day 238 - Vintage gold and amethyst knot ring
I am not too sure where this ring originated from, presumably my great aunt or grandmother, but I love how simple it is! I love the knot style and how delicate it feels. With a lot of the rings from my relatives you can see how dainty and teeny tiny their fingers must have been compared to my little chipolatas. Seriously, my husbands 9 year old niece has hands the same size as mine - its a loooong running source of amusement for the Husband! Speaking of which, it's out first wedding anniversary today, yay!!
Day 233 - Vintage ruby or garnet ring
This was either my grandmothers or her sisters, or to be honest there is a chance it belonged to her mother - so it's old put it that way! It's way to ostentatious for me to wear but I love the effect the rubies or garnets make against the gold and I really like the dome shape they form. It's not the best photo I grant you that, but I really do love this ring and bet its got a fair few stories to tell.
Day 133 - Vintage pearl and marquisite earrings
These are stunning aren't they? They were from my great aunt, who was also my godmother (I wrote about her before here and here). I don't really wear these as they are clip on earrings and I worry about them coming loose and losing them. I think its sad when that happens as jewellery was made to be worn not hidden away but some things are just too precious. They really are so beautiful...whilst I do tend to buy a lot of costume pieces I sometimes stumble across some vintage gems like these and you can just tell they will outlive everything else. I have no idea when these will have come from but I know that they've probably had one hell of a life!
Day 110 - beaded ring
I think I got this from either a charity or a vintage shop - I can't be too sure! I really like the detail in this ring - its quite big and blingy for me but I think the amber tones keep it from being too in-your-face!
I don't wear big pieces like this often but it is a Friday...! Hope you all have fab weekends planned. I'm just hoping to get a good sleep after suffering with really bad allergies and hayfever for the last few weeks. Good luck to anyone running the London Marathon on Sunday - I'll be there, soaking wet but still cheering :-)

Day 50 - Heirloom engagement ring
I think this was my great aunt's engagement ring but I may have come to that conclusion of my own accord rather than it being a pure statement of fact. Like the ring I wore yesterday, its gold, platinum and diamond and its a really stunning ring. I've had it for some time now and often wear it as, much like the ring from yesterday, I am sure this piece of jewellery has seen a fair few parties, big life events, maybe some trauma but a whole lot of life.
I can't afford 'classic' time pieces of jewellery much like I can't afford expensive 'classic' clothes - I know the cost per wear ratio will be better in the long term but I do tend to focus on costume jewellery because a) I don't earn a fortune and b) I like the way it can jazz up an outfit and to do that its often trend-led. So the few expensive, classic pieces of jewellery I do have I treasure as I know that they may not be 'in this season' but they are 'in for life' and can tell much better stories!

Day 49 - Antique diamond ring
I still wasn't doing too well with my bad back so this weekend I wore a lot of rings rather than bracelets or necklaces which feel a bit more 'outfit' than rings do.
This one is an old ring that used to belong to my great aunt. She was an incredibly glamorous woman who worked in the theatre and was one of those elderly relatives I was always fascinated with as a child. Sadly she died about ten years ago but she's often in my mind as I have some of her pieces of jewellery and I like to think that when I get old, I'll probably be a lot like her.
This ring has a platinum front on a gold band and the plate on the front has 5 diamonds with a cut out pattern around them. In this picture it looks like an X but its more subtle in real life. Its really simple but oh so pretty and its nice to be able to wear something that you know has lived a little - I often wonder what stories it has to tell...

Day 15 - Vintage style ring
This lovely ring is from Past Times. I know, Past Times! I used to pass this place by whenever I saw it but went in one time and realised that they actually do some nice jewellery. My husband bought me this when we'd been together for a few months and everyone always comments on it when I wear it.
The larger stone in the middle really catches the light and I love the vintage Art Deco style.
Day 8 - Oliver Bonas bracelet
I love Oliver Bonas, I'd say after Accessorize its probably my jewellery shop of choice, the only shame is there aren't as many of them! I actually have the whole set of this with a lovely matching necklace and earrings but I don't think I've actually worn all of them together...yet!
I like the slightly pewter vintage look of this set which suits how I am feeling right now...a bit grey and even a bit blah. I just hate how the weekends seem to go past so quickly, I definitely think the world would be a better place if we worked 4 days and had 3 day weekends. Who's with me...?!
