Day 268 - 274 Summary and Shop of the Week

I promised you rings!!! These are a collection of rings I've amassed over the last 13 or so years, they are all silver and range from cheap ones from teh high street to my own grandmothers wedding ring (which fits my ring finger, so that's where I get my stumpy little fingers from then!!)

And my Shop of the Week this week is the lovely Something that I mentioned a few weeks ago. And I may have just totally fallen in love with the Pug necklace!!

Top to bottom, left to right: Silver and crystal ring from boutique in Bournemouth, silver solitaire (not sure where it's from), wibbly wobbly ring from antique shop in Godalming, circles ring from market in Sutton, simple two stone ring from Oasis, blingy solitaire (not sure where from!) and Chunky crystal ring from Evans.

Day 263-267 - Summary and Shop of the Week

I've been busy sorting out my silver rings so I think its safe to say that they're going to see me through to October!! For the rest of this week I've been rocking a few longer necklaces in anticipation for my ring-session. So from top to bottom and left to right, I've been wearing: Wallis blue and brown mixed stone long necklace, Oasis clear crystal long necklace, short blue shell necklace (not sure where it's from) and black and silver multi-strand necklace that was a present from a friend.

My Shop of the Week this week goes to the fabulous Heidi Seeker. Someone I'm following on Twitter mentioned them and I have fallen in love. I have been wondering if they'd do one of their name necklaces for me saying 'Word2yamutha' on it (i'm slightly obsessed with Vanilla Ice) and what with the whole baby thing happening it seems like a good idea. That could be the hormones though!! I love their stuff and can't wait for the day I can spend money on jewellery again...

Day 252-262 - An apology and an announcement

I've been so rubbish lately, I'm sorry I've not updated the blog in a week or so. There is a good reason though...We're having a baby!!!

I've been really tired in the first 12 weeks but have been able to do the blogging (just) but these last couple of weeks I've had a cold and a really bad sinus infection so I've been struggling quite a lot as I can't take anything for the pain other than paracetamol (which has no effect on me!). So it's really zapped my energy and I know as I get bigger and bigger I am going to get tired-er and tired-er.

So I am thinking that I might change the format of the blog slightly and do more summaries over the course of the week rather than daily posts as I just can't keep up! I'm still going to wear 365 pieces of jewellery in 2012 but the way I report it back to you all might need to be tweaked as I have a full time job and quite a long commute so I have very little time in the week to be able to keep up now. And then I will need to take into account lots of lovely hospital appointments. I missed a few days earlier in the year when I hurt my back and when I got flu and my plan was always to do a big round up of pictures for the days I missed, and I was going to do those in December. But I think I'll just have to start doing that a little bit earlier now. I'll still try to do the Shop of the Week feature every week though.

I am finding it a lot harder now we're in the autumn to remember what I have worn and what I haven't. I tried to keep them all separate but I keep mixing everything up. Maybe I can blame baby brain?!! I have found my polishing cloth though so all my silver rings that have tarnished are going to get a good old polish this week and I'll do some summaries of those as I have some really pretty ones that I just don't wear any more that I really love and can't wait to show you all! So these last ten days I've worn...

Top to bottom, L-R...crazy blue necklace (bought from a market), Accessorize crystal pendant, Jade pendant (present from friend), Accessorize multi-stone necklace (worn as bracelet), Next brown stone pendant, Accessorize necklace (matches this bracelet), multi-stone necklace (matches these earrings), Amethyst and crystal bracelet (from Glitzy Secrets), Asos horse pendant, Next blue stone pendant and M&S purple stone necklace.

Day 251 - Accessorize firework ring

I made it! 21 rings in 21 days!! I'm finishing of with a really old Accessorize ring that I always call my firework ring because of the shape of the beads. I wore this to death when I was younger and went through a bit of a purple phase - its a bit worn and tattered but I still love it.

Day 250 - Next crystal beaded ring

This was the ring I bought from Next that was similar tot he one worn earlier this week. Its a silver adjustable cuff with a loop that has a number of clear or silver beads attached to it.

Day 249 - handmade purple bead ring

I made this some time ago and I really like the square purple beads (the same ones I used for this bracelet). It's not the best photo unfortunately but there are around seven of the square beads and some silver round beads as well. I've then attached them to a wire that I've formed into a ring. I really like it!

Day 248 - Vintage ring

This is another ring I seem to own but have no recollection of how I got it - so I assume it was also handed down to me. It's very pretty but again its too small for me to wear a lot without the fear it will come off. The stones are very dark rubies and the ring is made of gold.

Day 247 - Handmade lilac bead ring

I made this using a bead 'cup' (I don't think that's the technical term!) - but it comes fixed to a ring base and has lots of holes in and then you use wire to thread beads on the top. I've only tried this technique the one time and I don't think it was that successful to be honest, but still - it looks good from a distance!

Day 246 - Next charm ring

I think this was a birthday present from about 8 years ago - I'm pretty sure it was from Next as I bought myself the same style but different colours not long afterwards (I'll be wearing that this week too!). Obviously my friend knew about my love of turquoise and I really like the differing and complimentary shades in this ring.

The Sunday Summary

Seeing as I'm now two thirds of the way through this mini challenge I thought I'd suggest a controversial Shop of the Week - Tiffany! They are probably one of the world renowned amazing ring producers but actually, they also sell quite affordable rings in sterling silver, many of which are around £100-£150. So next time you write them off for being too expensive, just have a bit of a look as you never know, you might find something that pleasantly surprises you (and your bank manager!)

Day 245 - Big blingy crystal ring

I really don't know where this is from!! I don't really wear it much as it is quite bling-tastic but its still pretty and the back is adjustable which makes it a great piece if you tend to change with the seasons, shall we say! My arthritis in a couple of my fingers means I can find at some times of the year my fingers are a whole size bigger/smaller so having something that is adjustable is a real help.

Day 244 - Gaudi / Park Guell ring from Barcelona

I bought this from the shop inside Park Guell an amazing park in Barcelona. I can't recommend visiting this place enough - we walked all the way to the top and then had a picnic with champagne to celebrate my quarter century! It is such an inspirational place, Barcelona, the art there really inspired me to take up painting and drawing again, and without that I don't know if I would have had the confidence to start making jewellery.
